Help in time of need, Just Come as a Child

Dear Child,

Little ones are precious in the sight of God. They are the apple of His eye, so full of life and hope. Jesus wants us to realize how precious these little ones are to Him and how valued the faith of a child is. Jesus tells us further that the Kingdom of God is filled with little children saying; “for of such is the Kingdom of God”. To put it simply, the Kingdom of God is filled with those who are childlike in heart.

There are times in our lives when we think incorrectly that we need to act more mature, we need to grow up. While this may be true, our hearts are still to be opened to Jesus Christ our Lord even as a little child. If this isn’t the case, we should consider whether or not we are walking in Christ as we ought. Yes, Paul said “when I became a man, I put away childish things”, and this is true. However, Paul didn’t put away a childlike heart even though he matured as a man. He still trusted in God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ implicitly. Our Heavenly Father wants us to have the joy of a little child as we approach Him. He doesn’t want us to look upon Him as a tyrant or a harsh Father who only has time for what we think are very important matters. This just isn’t who our God Is! He Is Holy, Just, Righteous in all His ways! Yet, He is Gentle, Loving, and Kind not willing that any perish. It is His good pleasure to give us The Kingdom! So, we should seek His Kingdom, even as a little one seeks to obtain blessed gifts from their earthly fathers and mothers.

It is very sad but little children learn to mistrust. However, God desires that we keep that simple trust in tact. Earthly parents may have disappointed us because we are all imperfect. But, God Loves us far more than our earthly family could and He wants us to know that He relishes our fellowship with Him. He enjoys our company even when we are being a bit loud, or asking so many questions. Father God is not disturbed by this though we as people often dislike these interruptions. The whole of the matter is that God Loves us and wants us to come and fellowship with Him! He takes us as we are and lovingly changes us from glory to glory. He hears us when we call out to Him. And, Father God is never to busy dealing with a major issue that He wouldn’t stop to pick you up in His arms and bless you even as Jesus did little children. Yes, our Lord Jesus was very busy ministering to all those around Him. Yet, this ministry never neglected any one of the sheep of His pasture. He cared and still cares for them all.

It is God’s desire that we receive the Kingdom as a little child! He wants us to be abundantly blessed and to know we are loved intimately. How are we supposed to receive then? Well, receiving as a child is just opening our hearts to all that is before us believing that our Heavenly Father is watching over us, and as a Good Father, He will give us what is good. There may be things that we experience which are a mystery to us. We often ask the “why” question and don’t always get an answer right away. It isn’t that our Father in Heaven is offended by the question. It is just something for the moment we cannot understand. This shouldn’t cause our hearts to distrust Him though. For, our Heavenly Father doesn’t lie. He is Faithful and True and Loves us with an everlasting Love!

Our Lord Jesus invites us to come. This invitation comes just like we would invite a little child to come to us. The receiving part is just opening our hands and excepting the gift. Then with excitement we open it up. So, why not come to God with anticipation since this is how He invites all to come. He delights in giving His children gifts that fill us with joy. This isn’t getting everything we want. It is receiving the abundant life that Jesus said He came to give! Open your hands and receive this gift of Love and Life! Then continue walking with Him in the same way. Don’t be hardened in heart but be filled with joy knowing our Father in Heaven will grant our petitions and is delighted to spend time with us. He won’t be put out because we run to Him! On the contrary, He will take us up in His arms and bless us!

This Christmas Season, come behold the King of Kings and let your hearts be filled with the wonder at the Love of God the Father, Who Loves us so much that He gave His Only Begotten Son! Since He gave so much then, do you think He would withhold life now? Paul the Apostle gave us the answer to this question when he wrote to the Romans. Romans 8:32 says: “He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” The things we need are the things that pertain to Life and Godliness. In other words, He gives us abundant Life and the Power to walk it out!

Be Blessed this Christmas Season!

Love in Christ Jesus our Lord,

Robert
